FFMI CALLS ON AMAZON TO RELEASE FINDINGS OF AWS DISCRIMINATION PROBE

Amazon Missed Investigation Deadline Requested by More Than 550 Employees

The Free & Fair Markets Initiative (FFMI) today released the following statement regarding the status of the investigation launched by Amazon into allegations involving workplace discrimination at Amazon Web Services (AWS).

“Earlier this year, Amazon launched an independent investigation into claims involving workplace culture at AWS after more than 550 employees attested to a culture of ‘systemic discrimination, harassment, bullying and bias against women and under-represented groups.’ These employees requested the investigation be completed by Oct. 30 — a deadline Amazon has apparently failed to meet. Given the disturbing nature of the allegations, FFMI is calling on Amazon to immediately release the complete findings of the investigation.

The results of this probe are a matter of public interest. Not only does Amazon employ nearly 1 million Americans, but AWS holds contracts with numerous federal, state, and local government agencies. Amazon has a responsibility to its workforce, customers, and government partners to disclose whether its employees have been the victims of systemic workplace discrimination and how it will address these problems for the future.”
