AMAZON “STONEWALLED” CITY COUNCIL ON HQ2

Amazon Dodged Questions and Refused To Offer Specifics On HQ2 Deal

Robert B. Engel, chief spokesperson for the Free & Fair Markets Initiative (FFMI), released the following statement following today’s New York City Council hearing on Amazon’s close-door HQ2 deal.

“Amazon grandstanded and stonewalled City Council at every step of the way during today’s hearing on HQ2 and quite frankly it was an insult to Queens residents and all New Yorkers. Their refusal to answer simple questions about everything from land use to hiring is exactly why there needs to be an independent community impact report.

“It’s clear as day that Amazon has zero interest in being a meaningful part of the community in Queens. No wonder so many residents don’t trust them.”
