FFMI LAUNCHING INVESTIGATION INTO  FOXCONN DEAL IN WISCONSIN

Wisconsin Officials and Company Executives Must Come Clean with Taxpayers

Amid a new Wall Street Journal report raising serious questions about Foxconn’s deal with Wisconsin for billions in state tax incentives, FFMI is launching an investigation into the origins of the deal and whether Foxconn subsequently fabricated or doctored job creation data in order to receive taxpayer dollars.

FFMI will submit Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for:

  • Any and all records of communications – including e-mail correspondence and memoranda – between employees or representatives of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. or Foxconn Technology Group and select city and state agencies.
  • Any and all records of communications – including e-mail correspondence and memoranda – between Tyler J. Foti, Steven M. Foti, Robert Marchant & Nathan Houdek of Michael Best Strategies, or Andrew Cook of the Hamilton Consulting Group LLC, and the office of Governor Scott Walker and Walker’s Chiefs of Staff Rich Zipperer and Eric Schutt, on any matters concerning Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. or Foxconn Technology Group.
  • Any and all records of meetings – including visitors logs and memoranda – between Tyler J. Foti, Steven M. Foti, Robert Marchant & Nathan Houdek of Michael Best Strategies, or Andrew Cook of the Hamilton Consulting Group LLC, and the office of Governor Scott Walker and Walker’s Chiefs of Staff Rich Zipperer and Eric Schutt.

Robert B. Engel, chief spokesperson for the Free & Fair Markets Initiative (FFMI), released the following statement:

“Taxpayers across the country are sick and tired of getting a raw deal on these outrageous economic incentive packages. The idea that inaccurate job creation data in this case might have led to Foxconn getting free taxpayer dollars speaks to a complete lack of accountability.

We need to get to the bottom of how the Foxconn deal came together in the first place and pull back the curtain on what’s been going on behind closed doors.”
