FFMI to Wisconsin: Stop Stonewalling On Foxconn Details
Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation Refuses To Provide Answers
On Foxconn Deal

In response to public records requests from the Free & Fair Markets Initiative (FFMI) for communications between Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. or Foxconn Technology Group and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), the state’s economic development agency replied that it would require reviewing as many as 362,801 responsive records.

“The decision by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation to keep these records effectively under lock-and-key is an insult to good governance,” said Robert B. Engel, chief spokesperson for FFMI. “Burying the truth under hundreds of thousands of documents raises serious questions about what was taking place when the state was negotiating this deal, and why they are going to such great lengths to keep their communications from becoming public.”

“The public deserves to know just what is going on behind closed doors when it comes to one of the largest economic development deals in the state’s history.”
