Amazon Could Get Billions More From Taxpayers After Government Accountability Office Decision 

Winner-Take-All Contract Design Tilts Uneven Playing Field Towards Amazon

Robert B. Engel, chief spokesperson for the Free & Fair Markets Initiative, said the following in response to the decision by the Government Accountability Office to allow the Department of Defense’s Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) contract to move forward as a winner-take-all contract:

“Yesterday, Northern Virginia and New York City were duped into offering Amazon billions of dollars for half of HQ2. Today, Amazon stands to gain even more taxpayer dollars, this time from the Department of Defense to host our nation’s most sensitive secrets.”

“Amazon is constantly standing with their hands out demanding more and more money from taxpayers. Only one question remains: When does construction begin for the underground tunnel from Crystal City to the Pentagon?”

The JEDI contract is estimated to be worth as much as $10 billion over the course of the contract.
