AMAZON IS FACING A MASSIVE TRUST DEFICIT GOING INTO SECOND NEW YORK CITY COUNCIL HEARING ON HQ2

New Yorkers Are Rightfully Fed Up with Non-Answers from Amazon Executives

Robert B. Engel, chief spokesperson for the Free & Fair Markets Initiative (FFMI), released the following statement ahead of this morning’s New York City Council hearing on Amazon’s close-door HQ2 negotiations.

“Amazon’s filibuster strategy when it comes to public accountability around HQ2 is a flagrant attempt to keep New Yorkers in the dark until the company breaks ground in Queens. But stall tactics and the silent treatment simply won’t work when more than $3 billion in taxpayer subsidies are on the line.

“If Amazon serves up more of the same evasive non-answers to City Council today, lawmakers must call for an immediate pause to the process and demand that Amazon provide complete transparency before moving forward.”
