AMAZON’S FEDERAL TAX AVOIDANCE SCHEME MUST END

Amazon Paid Zero In Federal Income Taxes For Second Straight Year Despite Record Profits

Robert B. Engel, chief spokesperson for the Free & Fair Markets Initiative (FFMI), released the following statement in response to Amazon’s latest corporate filing, which revealed that Amazon paid $0 in federal income taxes in 2018.

“Amazon uses every trick in the book to avoid paying their fair share in taxes and they’ve been getting away with it for years. The fact that one of America’s richest and most powerful companies paid nothing in federal income taxes for the second straight year and actually walked away with a $129 million rebate is nothing less than highway robbery.

Amazon’s shameful tax avoidance scheme is one of the important pillars of the company’s anticompetitive business model. They play any games necessary to gain an edge wherever possible.”
