City Council Speaker Says Amazon HQ2 Deal In New York  Far From “A Done Deal”

Council Speaker Corey Johnson expects Amazon to continue receiving strong pushback from New York communities and officials on HQ2 sham.

“I don’t think anyone should assume that this is a fait accompli, and that this is a done deal,” Johnson said. “This is the beginning of a process where the public and the City Council and other elected officials are going to continue to seek answers and understand whether or not this is a good deal for New York City, or if we got played…I assume hundreds, or maybe even thousands of people will come out wanting to have their voice heard, since the public was cut out of this.” (Business Insider, “‘This isn’t a done deal’: New York City Council speaker Corey Johnson lays out his plan to avoid being ‘played’ by Amazon,” Dennis Green, 1.7.19)
